When I went to the zoo to sketch, I saw the ring-tailed lemur. Ring-tailed lemurs have very long tails and can easily wrap their small bodies. It’s this satirical little story from a long tail. Long hair and animalization is a kind of variation and fantasy. It is also a kind of self-defence and self-protection. When a person doesn’t want to continue her life and she has no other choice, there is a kind of variation inside her body. They throw away part of their past and become another person.

 

I use animalization as an idealized self-defence measure. Hair means she can be wrapped safely. To become a beast means to separate ourselves from these rules and regulations of human society.
